As well as its grand historical architecture Vienna has many interesting modern buildings.
See some of the tallest places in town. These include the 65 meter giant Ferris wheel at the famous Vienna Prater fairground and the unmistakable Danube Tower, a sky-piercing structure 252 meters tall.
View the six Y-shaped towers of the United Nations Building – their authoritative style reflecting the seriousness of their purpose. Quite different are two exciting buildings designed by revolutionary Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
Hundertwasser, described by some as a ‘hippie trippy artist’, hated straight lines and loved plants and vibrant colors. You will see his signature style at the Hundertwasserhaus, where fully grown trees protrude from windows and all the apartments are painted different colors.

Please arrive at the meeting point 10 minutes before the start time.
For your half-day Panoramic City Tour of Vienna tour you will be picked up from Operngasse 8, 1010 Vienna. An expert guide will accompany you. You will first take a city tour by bus.
Some highlights of your city tour include the following:
• Hundertwasser: Another exciting building, this time an apartment block, designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser. It has a roof covered with earth and grass and large trees growing from inside the rooms. Each apartment door and window is different and the tenants can alter their apartments both inside and outside. The exterior walls are a patchwork of mosaics, color and decoration.
• Vienna Prater Amusement Park: This fun fair is a Viennese institution, like the coffee houses or the Heuriger (wine taverns). Its most striking landmark, and one of Vienna's too, is the 65 meter (211 feet) high giant Ferris wheel.
• The United Nations Building: Along with New York, Geneva and Nairobi, Vienna is one of the four headquarters of the United Nations. The Vienna International Centre (VIC), commonly known as 'UNO City', was designed by Austrian architect Johann Staber. The complex consists of six Y-shaped office towers surrounding a cylindrical conference building.
• The Danube: You will see Danube Island, the Copa Cagrana, the Danube Park and the Danube Tower. This Danube tower 252 meter (819 feet) high tower was built in 1964 and has a restaurant at the top with splendid panoramic views of the old city and Vienna Woods.
We drive further, passing houses where Albert Einstein and Beethoven once lived as well as the Artist's colony at the Hohe Warte, with the residences of Alma Mahler-Schindler and Gustav Klimt.
From a viewpoint in the hills of the Vienna Woods you will see magnificent panoramas of the vineyards and the city. On the way back you will pass through the romantic wine growing village of Grinzing.
The tour finishes at Operngasse 8, 1010 Vienna.
